Please forgive the double post, but I'm watching the DVD right now, and the line I have is "cranky waitress."
Also, in the scene where they're hiding in the tree stump, Naveen actually falls on top of Tiana when he climbs in, right before he talks about getting comfortable. And from the sound effects, it sounds like she actually punches him. So disregard what I said before about Naveen's move possibly being chaste, because it likely wasn't.

Yea... My BluRay says "cranky". Hmmmm... Mine is a newer copy... Maybe they edited it out?

They could have. I didn't see it in theaters, so I wouldn't know.

jupiter23- I'm still not sure it wasn't chaste. I re-watched it again. (My poor DVD must be wondering if I'll watch anyother scenes) He lands in the tree stump. Then it cuts to the shadow of the alligator's mouth. "You can hop but you can't hide. We've got all night." Then cackels. That's when Naveen says the line. I find it diffuclt to beleive he would land on top of her and she'd be okay with letting him be that close for so long. Afterall she can't stand slim or mucus. Unless she was already attempting to push him off. And he refused to comply. So she had to take drastic measures. Whether a punch, slap or even a kick. Tiana used a form of self-defense to make him back off when she felt he lacked respect personal boundries. And clearly he grunts in pain with whatever happened. Her outburst speaks volumes that some line had been crossed and she wouldn't have it. Some might say an agenda by Disney. I say it's a matter of person who has the right to protect themselves. In human form or magical frog form.
The tone by which Naveen uses the honey suckle accent to linger on the word "comfortable" indicates strongly to seduction. Hence the reason I am one to have dirty mind idea implanted. (I did the same for Enchanted) And why Tiana reacted so fiercely. The directors even confessed on the commentary that Bruno Campos's delivery as Naveen was ideal since it was the sexiest they found along with hilarious. I think they deliberatley put it to good use.

In that case, here's the way I see it happening: Naveen climbs into the stump, loses his footing, and falls on top of Tiana. They both scramble back to get away from the opening in case the alligators try to reach in for them. They're both still inches from one another while they do. While Tiana is busy trying to calm herself down, Naveen sees another opportunity to make a move on her, and as he's already in her personal space, the move becomes inappropriate. Tiana, of course, is in no mood for it and hits him.
Yeah, he was trying, but like I said before, by this point in the movie he's tried no less than three times to make a move on her and she rejected him every time.

OK I totally forgot that Naveen had mentioned having dated several women but again he probably had his superficial standards which included that they needed to be rich whereas a womanizing man will go after any woman with boobs. Also I absolutely agree that he was probably unfaithful which he pretty much admitted in that line you quoted. There is no denying that the term 'Lowly' is pretty offensive regardless of the context and when you have black people in the equation that's definitely pushing it. So it was a smart choice to change it. I think for an official releationship for him to flaunt in public. I agree he'd only be seen with a woman of wealth and allurmemnt. However I just remembered something I nearly forgot despite all I was mentioning. Right atfer the snide remark he directs at Tiana. During the scene where Naveen grabs the vine Tiana reluctantly lowers to escape the alligators completley. He scampers up the tree atfer begging (I presume that is the first time it's happened to him) and out of shot of the camera. You can still hear the voices. He says "Well looks like we are going to be here awhile. So we might as well get comfortable." The last word is drawn out in a seductive tone. (And here I though Pirates of Caribbean was the only Disney film willing to venture that far) As indcated with the sound a someone slapping another. Tiana bursts with "Keep your slimy self away from me!" Evidently Naveen crosses some line that she felt the need to use self defence to set the record straight while they will be traveling together. Do not touch me ever! Apparently Naveen is willing to be on the prowl reagardless of her social status as along as it's in secret. All of this happens very quickly so most children may not register this. I on the other hand was surprised by the undertone of this particaular scene from G rated Disney film. If it were PG maybe I wouldn't be as shocked. (Shrugs shoulders) It's been a while since I've seen the film in full, when I'd checked the 'cranky' line for you I'd only watched that particular moment. This is a really good catch, and shows that he is in fact womanizing. So I stand corrected. Tiana is also belittled by the realtors who insinuate that "A woman of her background" wasn't fit to run a business. So while there is a bit of inappropriate behavior in this film most of the Disney 2D animated classics contain several mature themes and/or references yet are lightly rated. Take Hunchback Of Notra Dame. That film easily should have been PG-13. UPDATE: It just so happens that while I was composing this post this film came on ABCFamily after Brave and they cut out the lines of Naveen making his advance and Tiana smacking him. It cuts off at "We're going to be here a while."

All that was was the network covering their own butts. You know there would have been angry parents out there who hadn't seen the movie by then and would have started sending angry emails and whatnot to the network.

There are a couple of things I picked up on watching this film on ABCFamily yesterday which connect to other Disney films. 1.) Recall in The Lion King how Timon, Pumbaa and Adult Simba once discussed star theories and Timon says "They're fireflies that got stuck up in that big bluish black thing". (Pumbaa's big balls of gas theory which was waved off as just Pumbaa making everything about gas was actually the correct answer as I later learned hehe) When Ray the firefly passes away in this film he or perhaps his spirit rises into the sky as a star beside his beloved Evangeline. 2.) At the end when Tiana smashes Facillier's pendent his "friends from the other side" show up to collect the debt he owes them and among several shadow figures, this character appears: Doesn't it look an awful lot like Scrump, Lilo's self made doll in Lilo and Stitch?

That doesn't surprise me. Disney is known for planting Easter eggs like that in their movies. At the beginning of the movie during the title scene there's a woman on a balcony shaking out a carpet, and the design on the carpet resembles the magic carpet from Aladdin almost on point.

A few others off the top of my head:
Mama Odie tosses out Genie's lamp
When Lottie and "Naveen" dance, it is similar to Aurora and Phillip's dance at the end of Sleeping Beauty (Belle and Beast do this too)
Several of the floats are based on earlier Disney movies. The King Triton float is particularly easy to spot.
Lottie has Disney Princess merch in her room
I'll have to find the original thread, because there are a few I'm forgetting :/

Double post. A belated Happy 6th Anniversary to The Princess and the Frog! The film that began the Disney Revival. A sassy but sensitive musical comedy with a taste for hip edge. The last theatrical traditional hand drawn animated edition to the Princess line up that features a diverse cast set to delectable and jazzy backdrop of New Orleans. "My daddy may never have got what he wanted. But he had what he needed. He had love!"
