Apparently Disney is very confident about this property. They're talking sequels and miniseries explaining the events between movies, et all. But having seen some promo shots of the cast in costume, my skepticism increases.
The very nature of this story is going to meet with healthy skepticism in some fans and downright hostility in others. Yes, others will watch it because they love the idea. But at the same time, you have to at least explain how the son of Cruella De Vil is the same age as the daughter of Maleficent since the two stories from whence those characters sprang are centuries apart.

I really don't think they'll explain the different eras co-existing, or they'll have a choppy explanation. They probably will disregard it purely because their target audience won't really be too bothered about it.
In other news, Keegan Connor Tracey has been cast as Belle. I am actually really loving their casting, lmao. It's like they've chosen some of my favorite actors and put them together, lol.

Looks like I wasn't paying attention the first time I read, so it's going to be live-action? This has certainly taken a turn for me, lol. Now I'm scared that it's going to be another Disney Channel show where the acting isn't up to par and the storylines are too corny. I mean, I do enjoy shows like That's So Raven and Austin and Ally, but I'm not sure whether this will turn out like those or not. I hope they do. This film will be live action? This is how I feel as well, that they don't speculate viewers being bothered by: 1.) multiple eras interacting 2.) How certain characters produced offspring such as Maleficent and Cruella De Vil with no doubt a thoughtless explanation. Personally I feel they're wrong, these are things that some fans will notice. Which is why this film is bound to be one of those love it or hate it films with no in between. |

I think they'd have a mutiny on their hands if they tried to animate this. I anticipate the fan reaction to be very similar to the Maleficent reaction. Some will love it and have their thought out reasons as to why they loved it. And others will hate it with their own thought out reasons as to why they hated it.
