I'll be interested to see how this turns out. Disney has confirmed that they're attaching Frozen Fever to this film, so that will likely increase the box office. After the uneven Maleficent, there could be a lot riding on this film.

I saw a commercial earlier and idk...it doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look great either. I'm getting the same vibes I got from Maleficant

It may not be great, but I know I'll be seeing it.
And I liked Maleficent. Better than I expected it to be.

I have not seen a current preview for this film... must go look it up... Which I know I'll be seeing it. Probably not a theatre go for me. Has to look pretty awesome for me to pay those prices (or for me to talk the hubby into going). But a rental isn't too bad.

Disney has released a new trailer for this movie and announced that it will be shown in IMAX. They've also released quite a few featurettes about the new film. The link for the new trailer is below. www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1dLcSoiHzAThe more trailers I see for this movie, the more I think it's pulling a lot of inspiration from the animated classic. There are mice named Gus and Jaq. Some of the live action shots appear straight out of the animated film such as Cinderella entering the ball and Lady Tremayne trying to figure out who the mystery girl is. The transformation of her dress from rags to riches (which was perhaps Walt Disney's favorite animated scene in all of his films) also looks straight out of the animated classic. There are some departures from the animated classic. In what I think is a good move (and one that borrows from Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella meets the Prince in the forest and their friendship begins, but she doesn't know he's the Prince. I will always defend Walt Disney's Cinderella because I think it shows that kindness and compassion will always be rewarded. To this point, it looks like those traits continue in this live action version, but they appear to have strengthened the love story. I'm not not tagging the next point as a spoiler because trailers have revealed this plot point. In what appears to be a radical departure, the King wants the Prince to marry a certain kind of girl and conspires with Lady Tremayne to keep the couple apart. Honestly, I'm really looking forward to this one. Disney's animated Cinderella is one of my very favorite animated films ever and this version looks to be a fairly faithful adaptation of that earlier story. One of the few things I liked about Maleficent was the live action realization of some scenes from the animated film. Based on previews, this Cinderella looks like it's going to faithfully honor the animated classic while also updating it for a new generation.

SPOILER ALERT IN THIS NEW TRAILER! Avoid if you wish to be surprised.
I see there is confirmation now with just as many nods and inspirations that came from the 1998 film Ever After and the recent stage revival of the Rodger and Hammerstin Cinderella musical. (Currently on a North American National Tour. Foreign Productions expected to be under way soon)

Double post. There is a clip I found on YouTube not too long ago. Once again, AVOID if you wish to be 100% surprised by this new adaptation of the famous fairy-tale. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib7238ncqJcI'm already a fan of Lily James thanks to a little show called Dowton Abbey but I think people are really going to get a kick out of her as Cinderella. In this short clip alone she proves she can bridge the gap of the old fashion genteel lady and the contemporary young woman with a vibrant spirit. Since I don't watch Game of Thrones, it will be a fresh take for me with Richard Maden as the Prince. I look foreward to seeing more.

I just read something interesting. Apparently, Emma Watson was originally cast as Cinderella, but turned it down due to the Beauty and the Beast live action film.
Honestly, I can't see Watson as Cinderella, but I do see her as Belle. And at least based on the teasers and publicity videos Disney has released to this point, I think Lily James will do great as Cinderella.

That is quite interesting, BRP. I, like yourself, agree that I cannot have seen Emma as a Cinderella. But as Belle, I think she fits perfectly. It's funny how parts are offered around until they are finally accepted.
