I'm okay with this. More Dory is good

This has potential. But it's a long way off. I looked on IMDB just now, and it's in production/filming and it will be out in 2016. Long way off.

I'd go see it. To be honest I did actually really enjoy Dory as a character in the first film and I'm curious to know just how she went missing - Though I can only guess, she did have that memory problem after all. >.>

Oh yes... Dory was my favorite character in Finding Nemo. I like the fact that they'll be expanding on her story. Perhaps we will learn more about her and her past. And Dory had such a habit of running into some funny characters. I think the plot has potential! Let's just hope it meets expectations.

I have reservations. Mater was everybody's favourite character in Cars, they brought him to the fore front and we ended up with Cars 2, critically Pixar's worst film thus far.
From a cinematic point of view, and in terms of script, there's a reason there are sidekicks and why they're in this position. Pixar have earned my trust, I just, especially after Lasseter's constant reassurance that Pixar wouldn't go down the sequel route, dislike that Pixar have indeed joined the Hollywood plague of sequels and prequels. Brave has been their only original output since Up in 2009, that's a long time for a studio like Pixar to have such a limited original content output, especially a studio who have made their name off of original content.

That is because they are out to get what they can get. Why spend the time, money, and effort when they can milk something they have already created for all it's got? Referencing back to Cars... kids already loved Mater. So it was easy to sell. Kids already know and love Dory, so whether it is good or bad, people will go. That's just the way it goes, unfortunately.

Oh no I get that, as a fan I guess I feel cheated that Lasseter went out of his way to say Pixar would never be about sequels. It all started so well, with him cancelling all direct to DVD sequels (thank lord) and yet here we are.
My main problem is their lack of original films. I miss finding out about a project and being excited to see how Pixar were going to blow me away. I'm looking forward to the projects they have beyond Monsters University and now Finding Dory. It sounds like I've already made my mind up about this film, but I haven't, I'm not an idiot, I love the idea of revisiting these characters, but I believe revisiting them should be left to fan fiction.

I thought Mater was annoying :/ Actually I thought everyone in Cars was annoying except Doc Hudson.
Anyway, Dory had a fairly large role in the first movie, so I think the transistion to a larger role would be more natural.

I'm actually excited to hear more about this movie. I loved Dory in Finding Nemo and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of her on screen.

I'm on the fence about this. When I saw the title, I was like was it really necessary to change it? But I do love Dory. I just hope Marlin and Nemo don't get overshadowed by her, because they brought a lot of heart to the story, especially with the over-protective-father-lost-son business. I'm going to wait a little longer to make some judgement on this project.

I just hope they give it a good story. I mean funny is good, but if the story is lacking it kind of kills it. .__.

I've seen people suggest it might be about Dory's past and the Finding Dory refers to her finding herself. I really like that idea personally

That might be kind of cool actually. Especially since she came out of nowhere. Literally. And to think of Dory's family? It could be really good. Though I'd still wants Marlin and Nemo in it. Possibly even Coral, if it was a prequel/flashback.

It's been confirmed that it is a sequel, taking place 1 year after the events of Finding Nemo.
It's also been confirmed that Nemo will be recast as Alexander Gould (the original voice of Nemo) has since obviously hit puberty and his voice has broken.
