Okay, as I'm sure you all know in October of 2012, Disney purchased Lucasfilms for $4 Billion dollars. Half of it was in cash, the other half was in Shares in Disney. As before in 2009 when they acquired Marvel, it means that they gained rights over the movies produced and done by Lucasfilms. Though things are still in argument as to who has rights to what, one thing is for certain: In 2015, Disney CEO Inger says that Star Wars Episode VII will be released! Now, I don't know how many die-hard, super-crazed Star Wars fans I have here, but I am completely and utterly stoked.  As read in an article on Business Week, it is even being tossed around to bring back the originals such as Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. I loved the painting that guy did of Carl and Ellie from Up as Han Solo and Princess Leia. I may yet buy a print of it.
Even though it's happening, I still can't quite believe that we're getting more Star Wars movies.

I'm super stoked about future Star Wars movies, either way they decide to go with them! It will be a continuance for fans, and perhaps serve as an introduction for a new fan base.

It will definitely introduce a whole new generation to the saga. When I was at Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World in 2009, I met people whose children were fans because of The Clone Wars animated series and have never even seen a single Star Wars film.

Sorry for the double post, but this hasn't been touched on for a while and my inner nerd is excited.
I was reading this morning and John Williams has agreed to come back and compose the music for the upcoming Episode 7. With the previous 6 movies under his belt, he is no doubt probably one of the most famous and well known composers out there.
Johnathan Rhys-Meyers has been confirmed as a cast member in the upcoming film, though his character and the plot are currently being kept under lock and key. Atleast we know we will have some eye candy. And making a rumored return (it is not yet official, but a great possibility) are Fisher, Hamill, and Ford. Fisher actually said she was excited about it... ;D So fingers crossed, we will get our original trio back!

JJ Abrams has announced they're going to start filming in January 2014. I'm still skeptical about a 2015 release date with filming starting so late in the game.

I'm going to remain optimistic until proven wrong. They are going to have to do some serious damage to upset me as regards this movie.

I don't care if they delay the movie just so long as they do it right. And I have confidence in Abrams. As I was watching Star Trek Into Darkness during the firefight on Kronos I was getting really excited to see what Abrams does with lightsaber duels in close quarters like that.

Oh yay! I will have to make Sam watch all the movies with me so we can have a date night to go see this new installment!!!! I really cannot wait till they disclose some of the plot and who will make up the cast!!!  |
