Believe me! It's really hard! I made some really really close friends in college, but since I went to a school that was about an 8 hour drive away (and then some of my friends are from states even further) I never see them, or don't see them as much as I would like. The vastness of the US is probably why not a lot of people here travel. It's hard to. For me it is just as much to buy a plane ticket to Oregon (can't get further from where I am in the continental US) than it is to buy one to Europe.

Me too! Even if it's just typing, it's still easier to communicate

Exactly! And if you do reunite, it's like they never left because of Facebook/Skype

exactly. If it weren't for facebook and Skype, a lot more of my friendships would have faded away since I am not the greatest with emails and snail mail.

Right? Although, I think sometimes we tend to rely on technology than we should. I know I do

Yes, that is definitely true. Though I have to remind myself of that often since I work with people that have hardly any or no technology (computers and cell phones).
EDIT: There are a very few people that don't have facebook or cell phones and I really really wonder how they stay in contact with people at all.

That's sometimes a good thing, I find. My culture is a firm believer of kanohi-ki-te-kanohi, which translates to face-to-face. I definitely like that concept, but as we said, it can be hard

It's true. It's better face to face, but it can't always be done. I have to say out of all forms of communication, my least favorite is talking on the phone.

Me too!! Well with strangers, anyway. I get terribly nervous and my beats so fast, lol. I think I just psych myself out though
