I'm surprised this thread hasn't been created yet.
Basically, this is a biographical drama film recounting the production of Mary Poppins and everything Walt Disney went through during the entire process. The wonderful Tom Hanks will be playing Mister Disney. It is set to be released in 2013
Are you looking forward to this?

I haven't heard too much about it. For a long time, I thought it was a remake of Mary Poppins

I actually would've preferred to see the production of another film, but apparently this one had more controversy. The author of the book was adament at every single step how she wanted it, and even at the premiere, said things were wrong. Something juicy coming from Disney You can find out most of the info at Wikipedia

I read somewhere not too long ago that P.L. Travers was so upset with the movie that she cried at the premiere. :/

I wouldn't be surprised. I think she confronted Walt at the premiere as well, but he brushed her off since he didn't think it was appropriate to do it in such a public place. I think Emma Thompson is playing Travers, so it'll be interesting to see the interaction between the two. I, for one, am excited

I am so excited for this film. I think Tom Hanks is such perfect casting for Disney, I'm really looking forward to the character they put to the forefront for Walt, as in Travers' eyes, he would be the villain of the piece! She refused to let him make films of any more of her books after Poppins came out. I'm also really looking forward to the interaction between Hanks and Emma Thompson, she has such great chemistry with anyone she works with, I loved her recent pairing with Dustin Hoffman in Stranger Than Fiction and Last Chance Harvey, so hope she can do something similar with Hanks.
The cast sounds fantastic. You have Hanks and Thompson, Colin Farrell as Travers' husband, Paul Giamatti as Travers' chauffeur, Jason Schwartzman and B.J. Novak as the Sherman Brothers, Victoria Summers as Julie Andrews and Bradley Whitford as Don DaGradi.
I think it should be very interesting!

I agree, Elliott. I think Tom and Emma are going to have a perfect on-camera rivalry going on! I'm still so excited for this and can't wait for more info!

This is the first I've heard of this movie. Though now that I'm reading through this thread, I do believe Tom Hanks will play Mr. Disney quite well. It isn't nothing I will go to theatres for, but I'm sure I'll rent it at some point.

Okay, this thread hasn't been touched on in a while, so I figured it okay for me to double post. The official trailer to this movie was released two days ago, and I have since changed my opinion. This will be a movie I have a desire to see! Tom Hank is an amazing actor who gets better with age. From what I see within the trailer, he doesn't let us down yet. And Emma Thompson has always been amazing! I cannot wait to see this story unfold. I want to see what it took to have Travers introduce her story to Hollywood.

I'm already hearing Oscar nomination buzz for Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. Not surprising in the least to me as they are so wonderful.

Wow, that trailer was unexpected. In a good way, I might. Reading up on the conflicting between Disney and Travers, I assumed it would've been a little darker, but it's very light. The comedic tone is a nice touch too. I love the part when she tells them to "unword it", then they hide supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Really looking forward to this

I'm glad it doesn't look too dark. I'm ready for a GOOD comedic, light hearted, Disney live action film.
