Food at Disney parks are expensive, but generally the quality is good. I was wondering if anyone had any opinion, general or specific, on where they like to or would like to eat at a Disney park?

I have never been to a Disney Park before but when I go in October I have about 4 places picked out that I'd like to try.
1) Tale as Old as Time 2) Crystal Palace 3) Tony's Italian Restaurant 4) Canada Steak House

Be Our Guest is an amazing restaurant. One of my favorites at WDW. Crystal Palace is a Winnie the Pooh character meal. Never eaten there. Tony's gets some pretty mixed reviews, but I've never eaten there. Le Cellier in Epcot is one of my favorite restaurants. Ever. As for Disneyland, I have a few favorites there. Disneyland: Carnation Cafe Blue Bayou (inside Pirates of the Carribean) Cafe Orleans Disney California Adventure: Flo's V-8 Cafe Ariel's Grotto (out of this world Santa Maria tri-tip). Sometimes I dream about it.

I had Potato soup at the Carnation Cafe, which was really good. I've always wanted to go to the Blue Bayou, but it never happens. Is there anything on the menu that stands out to you? That's also good to know about Ariel's Grotto. I've only heard so-so things about the food there.

The monte cristo sandwich is very famous, but also very heavy. I think I like the short ribs and the potatoes better.
The loaded baked potato soup at Carnation Cafe is legendary. They recently changed the menu there and at least kept the soup. The food is still good, but I liked the old menu better.
Ariel's Grotto has been a character meal and for about 2 years was a World of Color dinner package meal before going back to character meal for all 3 meals. As such, it's pretty expensive which may account for the mixed reviews.
Carthay Circle has incredible atmosphere as well. I only ate there once and didn't have an entree, but the dessert was spectacular. Best one I've had at a Disney restaurant in the U.S.

All of these establishments had great food and service. If went to all of the same places again. I wouldn't mind at all.

I think I'm most looking forward to the yummy meals I'm going to have when I go to Disney in October. All of these sound so great.

Oh my, I just looked at the online menu for Carthay Circle. Have you had problems making reservations there?

I've only eaten there once so it's tough to say. When I called in to get reservations about a week before I went down, every day but the last day was full. Granted this was over a holiday weekend when crowds were expected to be busy and it hadn't been open 3 months yet.
I think it's easier to get Disneyland reservations than Walt Disney World. I will say though that if you know you want to eat someplace, then make your reservation ahead of time so you know you have it. I have been able to get same day reservations on very crowded days at some Disneyland restaurants, but I always try to get them 4-5 hours in advance. I don't recommend that though.

I go to the parks more regularly now, but I still don't really like eating there (with the exception of EPCOT). And that's just because it is expensive, I don't spend all day there, and in most of the parks the food is just regular American food.. Le Cellier (The Canadian Steak House) is the best choice, Sarah. It is probably one of the most expensive places to eat in all the parks, but it is worth it. I haven't eaten there because of the expense, but during the Food & Wine Fest I have sampled some of what they have in there and my goodness, the steak just melted in my mouth and it was so flavorful. Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe (The Norwegian bakery) has amazing baked goods and sandwiches. I especially like the one with apples, cheese, and turkey. yum. Les Halles Boulangerie & Pâtisserie (the French bakery) has the best desserts, hands down. Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria (newest Italian restaurant) is less expensive and still very good. I had the pizza and it was wonderful. The only places in the world showcase I never eat at are: Germany since I don't care for German food, nor America since I can get that anywhere, and I tend not to eat at Japan or Canada due to them being two of the more expensive places (especially Canada which doesn't have a quick service option). Outside of the parks, I love Earl of Sandwich (my new favorite sandwich is the Hawaiian BBQ!) and I have to go to Ghirardelli's. And I just recently went to Portobello Country Italian Trattoria and wow!! It was expensive but it was so authentic! I felt like I was back in Italy! I had the Gnocchi and a Belini and both were excellent. As for some places to eat at the resorts: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club Resort is very good, especially their shakes and such. And of course some personal favorites are The Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary, The Whispering Canyon and Roaring Fork at the Wilderness Lodge and Mickey's Backyard BBQ and Trail's End at Fort Wilderness
