I've been reading a lot of posts on the board about different pins that the people working at the Parks will give you when you are visiting.
What sort of pins are available?
I've been told about the Birthday pin, Honey Moon pin, and 1st visit.

In addition the above mentioned buttons, there is also a generic I'm Celebrating button on which they will write what you're celebrating, at certain times of the year a graduation button is available, and there's also a just engaged button, an anniversary button, and a family reunion button. There are no character choices on the buttons. Who's on one button is on every single button of that theme.
There are also bride and groom mouse ears available for purchase.
In addition to the free buttons that Disney gives out, they have collectible pins available for purchase in the parks, resort gift shops, and Downtown Disney. These are substantially smaller than the buttons, but have a wide variety of characters available. Some guests like to put them on lanyards and wear the lanyards around the parks. I do this frequently and have found it to be a great source of interaction with characters and just chatting with cast members.
For instance, my lanyard shows off my favorite movies, so one side is Star Wars/Disney crossovers such as Jedi Mickey, Darth Goofy, Rebellion and Empire mouse ears, and Chip and Dale as ewoks playing on a stromtrooper helmet. The other side is Sleeping Beauty themed with different character pins from that movie and an awesome pin of Mickey and Minnie dancing in the clouds as Phllip and Aurora.
Because of these pins, I've had lightsaber battles with Stitch, had Minnie Mouse pretend to be Sleeping Beauty, been force choked by Goofy, had Ariel be very jealous that she wasn't on my lanyard, had Belle tell me how Sleeping Beauty is her favorite story too, and had Princess Aurora comment on how she loved the pin of Mickey and Minnie as Phillip and her.
In addition to the character pins, there are assorted movie pins, theme park attraction pins, resort pins, and celebration pins.

Wow!
I am really looking forward to collecting a few pins while I'm there. My cousins have gone to Disney World at least once a year since they were very small. They always come back with a few more pins on their lanyards. I definitely want to collect a few from my favourite films and characters. I've viewed quite a few online. They are all wonderfully made.

They can get very addictive. I used to trade with cast members a few years ago, but not so much anymore. It seems like they're making fewer pins in my areas of interest or going for the blind box mystery sets where it seems like there is only 1 or 2 pins out of the entire 10 pin set that I want so I don't play the odds so to speak.
That said, I still get pins, but it's down to 5-10 a year depending on how many new Disney/Star Wars crossover pins there are. It seems to me like they're making fewer Sleeping Beauty pins than they used to.
As a side note, a few years ago they made a series of Disney Princess in wedding gowns pins. I think every princess at that time was available (Snow White through Jasmine). They haven't been around for a few years, but may be available for purchase on ebay.

Yes, like you said, besides the ones Sarah has already named, those are all the celebrating pins. I like that they are all the same for each event as a cast member. Because I can just see the design from far away and I have seen them enough now that I know without reading what each one is. Those pins are about 3 inches in diameter. And because of those pins I have had some wonderful guest interactions and conversations. Here are what they look like. And yes, pin trading is big. I love pins and collect them. But I have avoided pin trading at Disney because I hear (if you want it to and let it), it can be very intense and all consuming.

I've never seen the magical triumph button. That's quite cool.
Pin trading can definitely be very addicting and expensive. I went through a phase where I would buy a lot of pins, but have scaled way back.

I honestly hardly ever see that one as well. If I have, it was only once. The First Visit and Birthday ones are definitely the most used.

My husband and I got 3 of the special pins while we were on our honeymoon. We ended up with the I'm Celebrating, Happily Ever After, and the First Visit badge. We wore them for the first little bit but then we ended up putting them on our bags a few days into our visit. I didn't want to put a bunch of holes in some of the new clothing I bought while at the Magic Kingdom. Not many people noticed after that. We did end up with a lovely free desert from Tepan Edo in Japan.

This pins are great! I always wear my birthday pin if I visit the parks on or near my birthday. It's fun to greet the characters when wearing it. They get excited and you get some extra special interactions with them. I also do pin trading while at the park. I mostly trade with cast members rather than other people. It can be really fun esp if you find a rare pin or something that you have been searching for a long time for.
