I'm skeptical of this working. The Jungle Cruise works as a ride because it is so tongue in cheek. They're not afraid to be corny and silly and that's what makes it fun. The problem is how do you incorporate that kind of silliness into a movie that appears to be action oriented?
With the exception of Pirates of the Carribean, Disney attractions turned into rides have not done very well. Eddie Murphy's The Haunted Mansion was a flop, and the Country Bears was a disaster. Can this work? Yes, but they must have a well written and clever script that stays true to the classic attraction itself. Sometimes I wonder how Pirates would have done without the acting prowess of Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush.

How can they make a film of this? Its just a boat ride where you look at animals whereas Haunted Mansion and Pirates rides have characters and scene like action in them.

To be honest, that was my thought whey they announced POTC. My guess would be the plot will involve some people, probably tourists going on safari through the jungle with a wisecracking tour guide. Hijinks enuse perhaps when the tour guide manages to get lost and we see the various scenes in the attraction come to life. Think of something similar to Jurassic Park.

To me i think its a rip off of the Disney classic: Swiss Family Robbinson as there is something in the title, For instance there was a ship with a family, and then there were a shipwreck. I mean come on, they might aswell make a feature length film of Walt Disney's life and be done with it. This being a dramatisation. If (speaking as an actresss in training), if the Disney Actors are STRONG enough for that. (ie HSM 1 & 2 Lack off Disipline.)

I doubt this will work. It'll probably turn out as bad as The Country Bears... But who knows, maybe it'll do a Pirates. [/blockquote]

I agree... I don't know how they will make a good movie out of it because the ride is so fun because of the humor the "tour guides" put in:) but I guess we will see!

The Jungle Cruise attraction that the rumored movie takes it's inspiration from is a hit because the tour guides on each cruise are famed for their incredibly silly puns and generally so stupid they're funny jokes. In fact Disneyland has launched the career of many famous comedians and generally funny people such as Steve Martin.
John Lasseter, Jerry Seinfeld, and Robin Williams have all spent time as skippers on the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland.

What next, "Its a Small World" the movie. Did you not hear the announcement? It's the newest Disney horror film. As for the jungle cruise film, the attraction itself is supposed to be loosely based on "The African Lion". I wonder if the film they make will have any similarities to that film.

I thought the attraction was based off The African Queen.

That's what I thought, too. But, I double checked Birnbaum's WDW Guidebook before I posted, just to be certain. It said "The African Lion". That may be incorrect, but that's what they said.
