Do any of you belong to the Disney Movie Club?
I recently joined about a year ago. I've been enjoying my DVD choices so far. I wasn't going to stick around after I fulfilled the required amount of DVDs to purchase but I'm enjoying it. I no longer have to pay attention to release dates and my movies are delivered to the house for almost the same price as in store. Plus every once in a while they throw in an added bonus DVD. I'm getting closer to completing my Disney movie collection.

Hey Sarah! I was wondering if you could tell me more about this. Is it a hoax? And explain the respond thing. Even after you have fufilled your commitment, do you still have to reject offers? Are they good movies? Discounted prices? I'm thinking about signing up... Just skeptical. Thanks ma'am.

Absolutely! Btw... If I refer a friend I get free movies too. It's not a hoax. One a month I get a package in the mail for the months special offer. It's easy to respond to and when I get the letter in the mail I always log in right away and respond with yes or no. It didn't take me long to fufill the commitment because the offers were really good. I chose to stay on even after I made the commitment and can quit anytime. I don't have to pay anything extra I just have to remember to reject or commit to the months offer. The package that comes in the mail is really helpful for that reminder. I've been part of the club for 2 years now and I've only forgotten once to reply. I got Daniel to join for free movies and he had no problems canceling when he had made his commitment to the club. The movies are really awesome. I got club exclusives like the Ducktales movie. I also ordered Atlantis that way which will be here when it's out on DVD/Bluray. Some of the movies come in a DVD/Bluray combo which I didn't like at first but now that I have a PS3 I can also watch the Blurays. I still order most of my movies in DVD format. If you do decide to join let me know. I can refer you and get free movies

And thanks ever so much for the info. I have been thinking about it for a while. Plus I get Disney points. So it seems pretty much worth it. I just wanted advice from someone who has been a member. ^^

Great idea! I love the points that I get from the movies too. I've ordered 2 DVDs using my Disney points. I haven't really used them for much yet though.

Back in 2005/2006 (can't remember for sure which) I'd joined without knowing what I was getting into and personally I'm not a fan of their system and didn't appreciate their tactics. At the time they offered you four free titles for joining which was all I knew at first and out of desire for Tower of Terror I went for it not realizing I'd be obligated to make purchases afterward.
When the first "featured title" arrived in the mail which was National Treasure, I was confused about receiving an item I had not ordered. I might have known about the whole 'featured title' deal but not that it was an automatic system. There are holes in my memory from here on but I believe it wasn't until the second title that my mother had looked at the paperwork and informed me that I was being charged for them. The second title was sent back, I think it was a film I didn't care for anyway and my mother wanted me to cancel my account. I'm pretty sure it was my own bank account but she put the funds into it, so she had a right to control my spending. When I told her of the five title policy for canceling an account she refused to pay the money to fulfill it and had me email them explaining the situation and asking for a pass. Either they denied the request or didn't respond at all, there's another hole there but my mother started sending every featured title back hoping it would be a message to them. There was one exception, The Pacifier. My mother was defeated by the temptation to keep this one. Not only did this not convince them but at one point we received a notice in the mail that they'd taken $50 out of my account for some fee that wasn't clear. To this day I've got no idea what that was. This may have somehow been fake, I feel like the money may not have actually been taken but I know my mom was pissed that the bank would allow that without my permission.
We ended up emptying and closing the bank account they had on file. My mother was fed up with this particular bank for unrelated reasons anyway so we'd switched banks to the one I'm still at today. My club account was never officially cancelled, I just sent a forgotten password request out of curiosity and they actually still have my email address (which is still my primary today) on record but eliminating the bank account that was being charged for them (and of course not updating it) finally stopped the featured titles and that's what we'd wanted.
I felt it stupid anyway that one couldn't choose which featured titles they wanted to receive to avoid being charged for ones that they already own or are not a fan of.

Hmmmm... I love it.
I got 5 free titles for signing up, and the only obligation is to buy 5 regular priced movies in 2 years. You get 10 features in the mail a year you can check for online and decline. Yes, failure to decline means they send them to you and you are charged. But as long as you stay on it, you're good. But after you buy the 5 regular priced movies, you get fantastic deals. And you don't have to just buy the feature films. Any film you buy will go towards your obligation.
I've personally never had any trouble out of them. Love the program. And as Sarah said, it's a good way to get access to movies you cannot find!

Like I said my mother would not allow me to fulfill the 5 title obligation, believe me I asked. I however didn't realize the the featured titles could be declined. Like I also said, I didn't know what I was doing back then. XD
