I /finally/ saw it today! I think my fave part of the entire film was the soundtrack! And the cameo from Skrillex! Most random cameo EVER! Haha I agree with Barky's point of unpredictability - it was a huge smack in the face when that was revealed! Also, the voice actors were so good - especially Jane Lynch and Alan Tudyk - Jane just killed the character, and I didn't even realize it was Alan until the credits!

I absolutely loved Wreck-it Ralph, the story was great and every actor was so perfect in their roles. John C. Reilly really had me feeling for Ralph, Jack McBrayer was also fantastic, I assumed (stupidly) that the film would turn it on it's head and have him as the villain but I loved the camaraderie between the two. Jane Lynch was fantastic (as always) and Alan Tudyk was absolutely brilliant, channelling Ed Wynn marvelously, I absolutely loved the King Candy character! One thing that struck me, was how much the film was oriented at an older audience. How many kids know who Q-Bert is? How many kids actually use arcades now, and are exposed to 8-bit games like Fix It Felix, Jr? In our cinema, it was packed with kids but I don't recall ever hearing the kids laugh until the film got into Sugar Rush (and then it was more at the candy references than the game references), it was all the adults laughing and I loved it for that. I know most animated films appeal to all age groups, with jokes for the kids and the adults but Ralph really seemed to be aimed more at an audience who grew up in the 80's, early 90's. I have no quibbles with this but it pleasantly surprised me! I also NEVER saw the twist coming towards the end which blew my mind and left me with a huge smile on my face. Really, really great film and I am 110% looking forward to a sequel (especially if, as rumoured, they manage to get a certain plumber on board as a cameo )

Kiari: I guess it didn't seem random to me because they constantly promoted that Owl City and Skrillex had done music for the movie.
Elliot: wow, yeah. I am so glad they didn't do that. It would have really made such a well made film into just an ok one.
And I love that too! When I saw it at the midnight premiere, it was only people my age (20-30 somethings). It was wonderful! But also to be expected at a midnight showing I guess. I do have to say though, I didn't grow up playing many arcade games. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago that I started knowing more games when I started to work at an arcade. Well, I have played arcade games but most were on the computer.
And I didn't know there was going to be a sequel. I.... don't know how I feel about that.

I think one of the great strengths of the film is that Disney made a film that appeals to a much more larger audience than video game fans. Using video games as the setting, but not the plot was key in my opinion. In developing strong, sympathetic characters, the filmmakers had you caring about their journey as opposed to the visuals on screen.
It reminds me of something that Ollie Johnston told Glen Keane when they were working on Tangled. Keane was excitedly telling Ollie about the some of the tremendous advances that had been made in animation that would be seen in Tangled. Ollie stopped him and said something to the effect of that's nice, but what are the characters thinking? I love that Keane was humble enough to share this story and smart enough to take one of the animation master's counsel and use it in the film.

I think it really says something about the strength of the characters when the scene that gets me choked up: Is the scene where Ralph destroys Vannelope's car. When you think about it, it's a scene about a nine-foot tall man wrecking a car made of candy and baked goods. Put it like that, it sounds really silly. But it's incredibly dramatic and heart-wrenching. It rather reminds me of the scene in Cinderella where the step-sisters rip up the dress Cinderella's mice friends made for her.

Guys! I finally broke down and bought Wreck it Ralph!
Though, I think it could've been better. I did enjoy it a good bit though I think the ending and the overall theme of the movie is what won me over. That and the 'dynamite gal' scene. xD
I just hope if they make a sequel they add more video game characters - I mean the ones that were created for the movie were adorable, but I was expecting a little more Ralph interaction with some. .___.

So I bought this at my local video store for $7.00 the other day and was not disappointed. One of Disney's better releases as of late.
John Reilly really gave me the feel for Ralph, who wanted no more than to be liked and to fit in. He was tired of being the bad guy and was desperately trying to prove how good he could be. I really loved poor little Vanelope, who proved to me that just because you're different, didn't mean you were any less liked. I really thought Sarah Silverman did a good job with her voice as well.
Jane Lynch was also a mentionable. I really thought she did marvelous (but seriously, when has she ever done a bad job). The "dynamite gal" was also one of my favorite scenes, along with when Ralph discovered the Diet Coke hot springs and the mentos. ^^
All in all, great movie with a great sense of humor and a superb story line.

I had a random thought yesterday. It's pretty obvious, but I never noticed it before.
Ralph is a more complicated character than Felix. Makes sense, as Ralph IS the main character, after all. But in their game, Felix is the player character and it's quite common for player characters to not have well-defined personalities, so that the person playing the game can better put themselves in that role.

I rewatched this again over the Christmas period (in a day-long Disneython that also consisted of Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Tangled and Frozen) and it really gets better with every viewing - the animation is simply a feast for the eyes.
Also, I didn't really comment on in my initial review, but Alan Tudyk as King Candy is simply phenomenal and one of my favourite Disney villains of all time - he's hilarious and terrifying (at the right moment) all in one - I was also saying "Have some candy!" to people all over Christmas too...

I LOVE Wreck it Ralph :3
I only watched it about a year after it came out, and I was a little hesitant to watch it, but once I did, it instantly became one of my favourites.
Fix it Felix and Vanellope are my favorites, both of them are adorable :3
I love video games, and I think that the way they portrayed them was flawless.
