Just got back from seeing Brave tonight. I loved how Pixar went in a different direction and told a fairy tale. Such a beautiful film and touching story.

I know it's been awhile since I posted but I'm not feeling upto a full review just yet. I'd like to see more feedback before I state my opinion. I will keep it short and simple for now. I liked it but didn't love it. It was anything but terrible. That said it does not rank on my favorite Pixar film list.

One of the interesting things to me was how this didn't feel like your usual Pixar film. Instead, it contains so many story elements that we're used to seeing with a fairy tale, but it's set before the usual love story that we've come to expect takes place.
Now that said, it has Pixar trademarks all over it. I really liked how they focused on the importance of family relationships and learning to respect and understand one another even if we don't always see eye to eye.
I do wish they'd given the triplets more screen time. Maybe it's because I have 2 nephews with red hair, one of whom is constantly hungry, but I enjoyed them immensely. I'm hoping they'll be the stars of the short that will come on the blu-ray.
And speaking of shorts, I thought La Luna was beautiful. It was worth the price of admission alone.

I finally got to see Brave today and loved it! I really like the mother/daughter relationship. It felt realistic to me. The ending made me tear up

I thought Brave was ok, but definitely one of the weaker Pixar films in my opinion. It just didn't have the same feel or emotional drive that other films had for me, and it's not because I've grown up (only excuse I could think of) because Toy Story 3 still got me teary. The ending really bothered me, this bit is going to be spoiler filled so I'll screen it. The whole ambush on the transformed creature and then transformation thing after the time had ran out. Transforming after a whisper of "I love you~" Beauty and the Beast anyone? I don't know, it just seemed WAY too similar for me. I agree the triplets could have had more screen time, I really enjoyed the part they played in the movie.

I absolutely love this movie. I had no idea that the movie would be so engaging. It was one of the few Disney movies that I couldn't tell what was going to happen next which I love! I also bawled my eyes out which is always an A+ for me LOL

This is such a wonderful movie. I loved it from beginning to end. I think the addition of humor was perfect to off set the somewhat serious tone of the last half of the movie.

^ I totally agree. When it came out to theaters but friend and I went to go see it opening day. At first, I wasn’t to happy with it since I felt the storyline had kind been done a bit with Brother Bear and all – however after re-watching it on DVD and the Mordu short I find myself liking it all over – though Brother Bear is still my favorite when it comes to bear transformation stories. ^^
I do remember I thought the ending was really emotional, especially when… Not gonna say in case some people haven’t seen it.

I've lost count the amount of times I have watched Brave on DVD so far since it came out over here in the UK at the end of November this year

I need to get Brave on DVD. I kind of hoped Santa would give me a copy on Christmas, so I put off buying it. So, on Christmas, when I found what was obviously a DVD case under the tree, I assumed it was Brave and got pretty excited.
It turned out to be a DVD of The Simpsons Christmas episodes, which wasn't a bad gift, but...it wasn't Brave.

I haven't seen this since it came out, but I enjoyed it. I hadn't read up on it much so I was pretty surprised by everything. After seeing it I realized it was mostly just entertaining and I probably wouldn't buy it or see again (which I have not), but it would be good for families and little kids. I really liked her character development, the artwork, and the music. The humor was a little too simple for me, but maybe I would think otherwise if I watched it again (like TLK, BATB, TLM, etc). I heard one person point out how they were frustrated with Disney movies always portraying the males to be stupid, simple-minded animals, which honestly didn't even occur to me after he mentioned it. This is probably true, but unfortunately didn't bother me as much as it should haha. Just another opinion to bring up.

The men in this movie were pretty ridiculous, I'm to gonna lie. Even in the Mordu short on the DVD, they don't really redeem themselves.

I can understand what people mean with "this" movie not portraying the male characters very well. However I do disagree when someone says "all" Disney and Pixar show all men like that. Some of my favourite Disney & Pixar leading men were very well written. Complex, flawed, sympathetic, romantic, and compassionate.

I just finished rewatching Brave.I was multi-tasking, so I wasn't giving it my full attention, so my second impression was uh, kind of in bits and pieces. ^^;
That said, despite not giving it my full attention, the move still managed to make my cry twice. Not choke up, actually cry. The mother-daughter relationship really tugs at my heart-strings. It hits a little too close to home.
edit: I just watched The Legend of Mordu feature and akjdksjkl the art style in that is so amazing! I love the rough story-book look to it
