Honestly I think they should cut their losses while they're ahead (if they even are) because this is getting a bit silly, in my opinion. The'll probably resort to some sorta TV show once the popularity for the movies go down and they're not making as much profit from them. That's another part that bugs me, they're making more films for profit, not because they have a great idea for the next film. They don't even have a script yet.

I think they'll in all likelihood make a 4th movie, probably without Will and Liz. I mean, when you think about it, their story is finished. Will is the new "Davy" and Liz devotes herself to him anyways. The end. But, Jack of course, is still full of possibilities... He can do anything. And Calypso is definitely a character they can do a lot more with. They can pull at least one more good movie out of this I think... And I hope that they will.

At this point, POTC4 is just a rumor. I've seen reports stating that the writers did not want to return to POTC. We do know that Depp wants to play Sparrow again and if you throw Barbossa into the mix again, you have the two key characters. In all honesty, POTC will be fine without Will & Elizabeth if they opted not to return. You really only need Sparrow and Barbossa.

That's interesting because I've seen reports that state Elliott and Rossio are wanting to start writing a 4th film almost immediately and that Bruckheimer is the one holding back.....the joys of the internet

Yeah they did but LOTR had the books to go off whereas POTC didn't have anything and is completely original. 5 years. What a feat

hmm... well I think they purposely left the audience were they did. They story tied up Will and Elizabeth's story and overall brought the story in full circle which is a great place to end. They got the audience wanting more and they had a scene after the credits that could go 2 ways. It just explained a little what is instore for Will and Elizabeth and/or it leads to a 4th film.
Yes they could go into the stories of the smaller characters, but I don't think that would be a box office hit. People want to see the stars. I do agree that some of the characters I would love to learn more about. On the other hand I have had enough Pirates for now and I like it were it is.
A tv series is an interesting concept. I don't think it would be a big hit, it might do better if it had the same voices from the movies.

Do you think Johnny Depp would do a TV show? Animated or not? It doesn't seem likely to me if they keep Depp.

Didn't he do 21 Jump Street in the late 80s?
