When Belle first visits the Beast's lair, it's a wreck. Later, he invites her in and everything is tidy. However, we see it one last time, and it's back in it's old, decrepit state. Beast must've trashed it in another rage. Hmmm....

Well he prolly cleaned it up for her when they were having dinner together but then when she left to go find her father he must have messed it up again out of rage.

Yup, that's exactly what they say in the director's commenatry on the Platinum DVD. You'll notice that the palace is still shabby in the original version...why? Because the Platinum version features the song "Human Again" in which the servants clean up the palace.

That "Human Again" sequence fills in that small plot hole that hardly anyone noticed when the movie was originally released. This is why we need more "Special Editions" to Disney Classics like this one.
