Sorry for the double post. I didn't know it was possible to be so excited and disppointed at the same time. The excitment comes from the news that The Wind Rises hs recieved an Academy award Nomination for Best Animated film! The disappointment comes from the fact that it won't be released in America until February 21st. My enthusiasim has not diminshed one bit since my last post here. Even if I haven't loved every single film that Studio Ghibli has made. To say the least, I have left the theatre (or turning off my television) with a smile on my face. Meaning my time was aell spent. I have another inkling this will be the same. If not better. I don't think it's possible for Studio Ghibli to write a bad film. I hate to say it since I know Frozen has gained a bigger following. This could be the film that might "possibly" beat it out for taht golden statue. It has earned it's share of accolades. Such as taking home awards for Best Animated film by the National Board of Review, New York Film Critic Circle, Toronto Film Critics Association, Chicago Film Critics Association, and the Online Film Critics Society. Sorry to say Frozen fans but it's not a shoe like many hope. The Wind Rises has a chance. Evne if it's a smaller one.

The trailer I saw of The Wind Rises awhile back looked really good. I can't wait to actually get to see it. :3 Ghibili never disappoints me.

My Neighbour Totoro is one of my favourite films that I have seen recently. When I went to Disney World on my honeymoon I picked up a few items from Japan in Epcot.

It's February! Which means for those who can not wait to see The Wind Rises. We are inching closer and closer. The Wind Rises adds another award to it's short but impressive list. It won the Annie award (awards dedicated only to the art of animation) for Best Writing. Congratulations to Studio Ghibli.

Can I just say I am a major fan of William H. Macy and that makes me want to watch this one even more! He is so brilliant in his live action films and I've always liked his voice.

If history is any indication. Studio Ghibli is most likely set to snatch the biggest and most famous film prize of them all. The newest addition to the studio's cherished collection of feature films, The Tale of Princess Kaguya has earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated film. It is poised to beat out every other film in the category. Rotten Tomatoes just cited 100% from all 58 of the critic reviews it received after it's submission at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2014. Higher then any other animated film in 2014! While yet to have a set release date North America. After the awards. I imagine it will be very soon. I am giddy with anticipation! Here is the general plotline. "Found inside a shinning stalk of bamboo by an old bamboo cutter and his wife. A tiny girl grows rapidly into an exquisite young lady. The mysterious young princess enthralls all who meet her- but ultimately she must confront her fate, and punishment for her crime." Written and directed by Isao Takahata (the film-maker behind Grave of the Fireflies and Only Yesterday) David Ehrlich of the A.V Club press hailed it "The Best animated film of the year and it will be revered as one of the studio's finest achievements." Nicolas Rapold of the The New York Times declared " Exquisite!" Watch out big budget animated studios. Somebody from the indie backround will be taking over. And with good reason if you have seen their track record.

They still haven't announced a release date for us here in North America. However they have stated the cast for the english dub of the film. The cast is as follows- Chloe Grace Moretz, James Cann, Mary Steenburgen, Darren Criss, Lucy Liu, Beau Bridges, Daniel Dae Kim, James Marsden, Oliver Platt, John Cho, George Segal, Hynden Welch and Dean Cain. They have no specified what role each actor will play except Chloe is the leading lady.

It really is unfair! In most circumstances Disney would release a Studio Gihbli film some time in February. (They're the distributor once they send the film to North America and the U.K for the english dub) Nobody had offered a legit reason behind the secret details holding out on it's world wide release. Only one theory comes to mind. The lack of financial income and enthusiasm from our part of the globe is to blame. The Secret World of Arrietty was lucky to score $19 million. But as we know in this day and age. Only $100 million and over let's become profitable. The Wind Rises barely reached $ 5 million.

To Studio Ghibli fans everywhere! I can not recommend the Academy award nominated film The Tale of Princess Kaguya enough. It's a gem of a film! A melencholy drama that inspires it's viewers to re-examine the world and people around you. I'd even go as far as to say it's one the studio's finest pieces. Right along side Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Only Yesterday, Princess Mononoke, Whisper of the Heart and Grave of the Fireflies. Be sure to rent at least once if you ever have the opportunity to view it. Not a film to be missed if you are aware of this studio's caliber of writing and film-making.

Double post Anybody who is a fan of Studio Ghibli's more dramatic pieces (Grave of the Fireflies realistic undertone mixed in with The Tale of Princess of Princess Kaguya bittersweet characterizations) and find a Cinema near their home in late February 2016! Why? They are re-releasing Only Yesterday!!!! One of the studio's greatest and in my humble opinion one of animation's finest theatrical achievements! I will be there most definitely!
