Yup, they're making another Winnie the Pooh movie. Good news: it's hand-drawn Working with Burny Mattinson, who worked on the orignal series They're trying to recreate the 60s style
Bad news: who knows what it's going to be about and if theyll really succeed.
Personally, it's a huge comfort that they're trying to stay true of their 60s version of this, and I'm a lot more hopeful because of it, but I can't say that I think it doesn't have a chance of failure.

Sorry but I think this is mainly bad news. Even if it is hand-drawn. I have adored Winnie the Pooh and it's characters since I was 2 but I could always tell when there was talent behind the production. Even since they gave out- "Pooh's Grand Adventure" there's been almost nothing about this franchise that feels entertaining anymore. I'm not saying new creative team and cast members can't work but so far this century nothing in regards to these character's storyline has been well-made. So my doubts have back-up as far as they're track record is concerned. So I give 75% chance this new storyline will be an unlikable corny, predictable and dull. Personally I'd be so much happier if they just released the 60's and 90's series on DVD and Blue-ray. Maninly because the longer they continue making projects like these (ones where the franchise has been done so many times just hearing the name makes you upset) the more I'm convinced they're in for the money only.

I love Winnie the Pooh an I'm glad they are trying to stick to the old way of doing it. I get sick of the constant pixar animation...but yeah, who knows what it's gonna be about. I loved the Tigger Movie but didn't like Piglet's Big Movie.

It's very depressing, actually. Haha I didn't think it was all that great. As I recall, Christopher Robin has to go to school. Pooh and his friends don't know where he is and go searching for him. It's kind of about growing up and moving on. I found it kind of a downer; didn't care much for it.

I really hope that this movie is aimed at a more general audience than preschoolers. If it it I will definately check it out.

Well since they'll be based off Miline's stories I feel a bit more comfortable. And with John Lasseter insisting this will be a "faily-oriented" film and not just a children's, I'll take his word for it. I remember reading the original material some time ago and it's true. The humor is brilliant! I wonder if Jim Cummings will still voice Pooh or if they'll hire somebody else.

Sorry to double-post but it's been awhile for this thread. I've found teh answer to my original question. John Lasseter has confirmed some of the cast for this new project. Jim Cummings will thankfully be returning as the beloved characters of Pooh and Tigger. Tom Kenny will play Rabbit while Craig Ferguson will take the role of Owl. The rest of the cast is still in the audition process. Understandably as these iconic characters deserve the best actor Disney can find.

Reading the list of the voice cast is a big relief for me. I'm actually happy with whom they have chosen for the mentioned roles. I'm just hoping that the rest of the cast turns out to be just as good. I'm also happy that they will be returning to the 60s style. Let's just hope the storyline is just as good. I wouldn't mind seeing 3 new adventures of Winnie the Pooh done like the original but with all new stories.

Oh, I totally agree with you on that one, Silver! I was raised on the TV show and I believe I have all of the episodes that were released on VHS and I would love to see the show on DVD because I'm afraid to play half of my old Disney tapes where they are so worn out.

According to Wikipedia.com, this film's release is July 15th 2011. This is awfully close to the Cars 2 relaease which is June 24th. I think they should seperate these films further away from each other. Consdering that Pixar is much more finacially successful then Traditional Disney animation, it's an enormous gamble to go head-to-head with them at the Box office. In fact I even worry the chances are greater this film will flop. I think releasing this film in August would be a wiser decision.

This is Disney we're talking about. They released Bolt the same day as Twilight. Knowing when to release movies is not their strong point.
