....didn't Snow White already have a platinum release? Meh, anyway, it has a re-release this fall.
I'm very excited. I love this movie and I don't have it on DVD.

hmmm 2007 would have been a good year to rerelease it, that was the 70th anniversary.
either way though, i haven't seen this movie in a very long time and I am excited for it!

I'm definitely psyched for the release of this for my ever-growing collection as I missed out on back in '01 when I wasn't really interested in expanding my collection

In 2001, Snow White was the first film to receive the platinum 2 disc treatment. I think they didn't release it in 2007 because it was still in the vault. They've now essentially given the platinum treatment to all the films they want to give the platinum treatment to(I believe that Fantasia and Dumbo should also receive the platinum treatment).
Given how often Disney releases movies from the vault, this release of Snow White is completely in line with their normal vault releases. I think they did not do a 2007 release because at that time there were other films that had not yet seen the platinum treatment and had been in the vault for a while.
The only film they've released early from the vault for an anniversary was Sleeping Beauty last year, but I believe that decision was driven by their desire to use that film's Technirama 70 size to show off just what Disney is doing with blu-ray technology.

I think they are rereleasing the DVDs over and over again. is because they don't show them in theaters anymore like the use to. But this is definitely a dvd I need to get.

Apparently Disney is ending the platinum line now. They're calling Snow White the first diamond edition release. (Presumably previously released platinum films will see diamond releases when their time in the vault is up). The film will be released on blu-ray in early October with a regular DVD release coming 5-6 weeks later.

But seriously, what more can they add? And only if the Diamond ed. has just incredible extras, the people that already have the Platinum ed. will not want it. Anyway, I am looking forward to the release as I don't have it on dvd either. I haven't seen it in so long, probably because it was never a favorite of mine. This is my cousin's favorite so I know she is excited for it.

From what I've read, this release will be loaded with all kinds of bonus features that have never been seen before. The only advantage to this Diamond release for those that bought the platinum release(which was the first time Disney used the term "platinum") is that this one is being released in blu-ray and will presumably look as beautiful as Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio do in hi def.
