Honestly, I think Disney is far more concerned with making money than with making the fans happy on these sequels. I couldn't argue with that. I can count all the sequels I find good or half decent on one hand, thats how bad it is.

I didn't actually mind TLMII, I thought it was quite good, tbh. But making a third LM just screams 'greedyness.' Like most people have said, I could count how many Disney sequels are good. And I agree about the villianess being a rip-off of Ursula. Can't Disney just care for their fans and not think about money, for once?

That used to be what Walt Disney was about. Before he died, it was all about the fans. He figured if he liked something, chances are that the public would like it, too. But, once he died, the company fell into the wrong hands and along the line, they felt that Disney was only for teenage girls and little boys. And sequels became the thing to do. They're cheap to make and very popular with kids.

I agree with all of you. Disney used to be a great company until Walt died. It's ridiculous what they have done with the company. Did you know they used the company to make 'R' rated films? Yep, heard it on a christian radio station. I was pretty shocked at first, I was probably about ten at the time, but now I'm not suprised if they made super raunchy films.
But, I will give Ariel and the gang a chance in this film and hopefully it will live up to my expectations. I also heard that the villianess has some connection with Ursula ... so I am really hoping Ursula is in this.

Touchstone was a Disney owned company that was formed so the company could make films that they could never release under the Disney label. Walt Disney Pictures has never released an R rated film. POTC is the highest ranking they've ever had with PG-13.
However, some companies owned by the Walt Disney Company have released some R rated films. I think Disney owned Miramax for a while, but their chairs wanted to make and release highly charged films that Disney wanted nothing to do with, so Disney sold them off.

Oh ok thanks Brier Rose's Prince, thats what I thought. I didn't think Disney themselves would release R rated films. I didn't know they have owned other companies though.

Oh, no. I meant companies Disney owned. They would never release an R rated film under Disney. It was Scream, I beleive. But Disney wouldn't do that under their name, they have to be much more sly than that.

Since becoming CEO, Bob Iger has sold off some of the studios under Disney that made those films and has curtailed Touchstone pictures dramatically. He's doing it in an effort to refocus Disney's energies on their strengths.

I think "Tombstone" is rated R and that was made by a Disney sub-company. A lot of the TV shows that ABC makes are rated TV-14 like Grey's Anatomy. But Disney is leaning on a lot of their sub-companies lately to make them all more family friendly and politically correct. I am ready for TLM III to be out so we can see how bad it is and move on

Being a Little Mermaid fan since the movie was 1st released on VHS I can't wait to see it. I must admit,though...I'm not going to be setting my hopes way high on it being a super good film.

Well, I'm a big fan of the first film. I liked the second as well. But, I've seen the previews for this film, and I am far from impressed. Disney can do much better, in my opinion.
