there's a preview of this on the 101 Dalmatians DVD, it doesn't tell much about the plot. Apparantly part of the story is about Ariel meeting Flounder...but didn't that happen in the prequel TV series?

weird, in teh preview he introduced himself to her. I think this may be another case of Disney not actually watching their movies so they make mistakes

Yeah I agree, but I like that version from the preview that you described better.
Technically in the show he had a name but it was just guppy # something(don't remember the number) and he hated it so Ariel made him unique but calling him Flounder. I found it lame personally.

Never understood that one. Is he supposed to be a guppy, or is his name guppy? Becuase he doesn't look like a guppy...and guppies are freshwater fish ¬_¬

He is way to big to be a guppy, i thought that Ariel called him that in the original movie as an insult. I don't really know what kind of fish he is, i thought he was a flounder fish and that is why they called him Flouder....

Well he was smaller at the time because it was a flashback, but you still could be right I actually don't know what a real guppy looks like. In fact I think you *are* right because When The Little Mermaid special edition DVD was coming out they did one of those fact segments on the Disney Channel like they are now doing for 101 Dalmatians about it being spelled with an A or an O, and it said that Flounder was actually closer to I think they said a reef fish or something I forget now. But definitely not a guppy, that was just Ariel teasing him and I think the makers of the lame Disney Channel cartoon misunderstood that.

He's definitely not a flounder either. Flounders are flat. Guppies are pretty small, and as I said before, freshwater, and can't live in the ocean. A coral reef fish makes sense. They tend to be colorful (think of Nemo!) and obviously are salt-water.

Yeah and they lie buried in the sand most of their lives and have both eyes on one side of their body. If you recall the scene in Finding Nemo when Marlin is taking Nemo to his first day of school, these little fish are chasing each other and this big flat fish comes up out of the sand, barks at them to get out of his yard and proceeds to chase them but keeps saying: "Ah where'd you go, Ah where'd you go?" because he only has eyes on one side of his head and can't see them. THAT was a real flounder.

According to the official website, the release date is indeed August 26. There is a trailer and a sneak peek. MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS: disney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/littlemermaid3/Besides the plot (that sounds completely dull, but I haven't got an opinion until I see it), I hate the design of Ariel's mother. Seriously, I have never been so disappointed in a character's design. you guys are DISNEY, couldn't you come up with a NEW design instead of making a copy of Ariel? I had the same feeling with Melody, but I hoped they wouldn't make the same mistake twice. Ugh...apperantly, they just did.

And once again...another Disney "sea" villainess based somewhat on the old designs...of Ursula...come on people...get creative!!
The last thing Disney needs is another villainess who looks like a drag queen. Ursula was based off of Divine and from there most of the designs for a villainess have been Drag Queens...STOP THE DRAGNESS!!!
