Well, we don't know for sure if this is even going to happen. We do know that Disney intended to release this film sometime this year and that's not happening. There is no firm release date and plenty of rumors that it's been cancelled. I hope it has but I will be glad for those who want to see it if it does come out.

Apparently, this project is still on. There are some previews for it on the Return to Neverland DVD. New rumors however indicate that Tink may be silent again, and that plans for her to speak have been cancelled. Once again, this is purely rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.

Well there is a preview on Cinderella 3 as well and that came out in like what April or May this year and yet still no other word of this film not even television previews. I don't count the little Disney Channel nitpicks because that could just be a series of shorts much like the recent When the Bell Rings.
Although if they are bringing back previews now that shows that there is still a thought process for this film and that there is still a chance for it. I really like the idea of Tink's voice being canceled. Not only do I dislike that idea but I am not a huge Brittney Murphy fan who was the rumored choice for the part. I think it is her humorous and strong body language and facial expressions that created the image she has come to acquire.

Jim Hill Media says that the film is now being released next fall. He's the one who reported the possibility that Tink will return to her silent ways, but cannot get a confirmation of it. Just cut and paste the link below into your browser if you want to read the article. jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/archive/2007/12/10/monday-mouse-watch-ariel-meets-her-maker-and-has-tinker-bell-lost-her-voice.aspxI'm not likely to see it since I'm not exactly in the target audience for something like this. I just hope that should Disney choose to do it, they do it right. I agree with John Lasseter that Disney is devaluing their brand with poorly animated and horribly written sequels, so I don't want to see Disney slap their good name on something that would make Walt cringe. I still cringe when I see clips from the new Sleeping Beauty story they put on the Enchanted Tales series. It looks nothing like the film that I love so much and it makes me sad to think that Disney has allowed something like this to happen. If they're going to do sequels, they must absolutely do them right. And when they ignore things such as design traits of the original Walt blessed character, Disney ignores what Walt understood so well. Speaking of the success of The Three Little Pigs, he said, "You can't top pigs with pigs." Changing beloved characters in any way is a bad idea.

My hopes are on behalf of the kids who this film appeals to but I myself and definitely not of the target audience of this film nor am I a Tink fanatic. So I will not being see it but on behalf of all the children looking forward to it I do hope they get it right although I think making it CGI already has them failing at that. I do hope they keep the idea of taking away the voice Idea as that would be one good decision on this film's part. I agree that characters are best left the way they were originally created as are films(*cough*sequals*cough*)

I completely agree with that. Not only am I not a huge Brittney Murphey fan but its part of the magic of Barrie's fairies that their talk is bells and chimes. In the fairy shorts they've shown on Disney channel none of the fairies have talked on those. . .so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

Yes it would definitely be a step up for this film. It may have a chance if they decide to keep Tink Silent.

The clips shown on the DVD apparently show the other fairies talking. The as yet unknown issue here is whether or not Tink speaks. Frankly, this is a Catch 22 for Disney. The target audience will not likely go crazy for a "silent" movie, but the fans will not be happy if Tink speaks. So if Tink is silent, than they have to explain why she can't talk, while her friends can.

Yeah thats a tough Challenege. For the kids' sake I hope they can pull it off. Although Tink being silent does not need much of an explanation, yes it would be weird if her friends talked but she has been silent for years its normal and we are all used to it to the point where you wouldn't think to question it. Her speaking would not be normal, that would be what the fans would question more maybe. The fact that she is talking now, why did she not before?

maybe if she talks it will only be to the other fairies, but to humans she still can't talk, that i could get on board with, but they would have to make it so that all of the fairies couldn't talk to humans, just each other for me. That would make it like The Aristocats, the cats talk to each other but the humans don't understand them, and Fox and the Hound and Oliver and Company and lots of other Disney movies.

I think that solution makes the most sense. Any way you look at it though, having Tink talk will open up a can of worms.

I am a HUGE Tinkerbell fan. My mom even bought Tinkerbell warping paper to warp my presents in. That said I will watch this movie and love it even if it totally sucks. I do think Tink talking would be a bit weird though, but if they do make her talk, I won't be all that fussed about it.

In terms of the talking situation, I heard an explanation the other day that makes sense. In Peter Pan, Tink was talking all the time, but because of her size, no one could understand her. So, in this film, she will apparently(hopefully) only converse with other fairies, thus making it possible to properly have her speak without "speaking"(assuming that when/if she's around humans or human sized creatures again, she doesn't speak).
This movie is supposed to be coming in fall of this year.
