We now have a confirmed extra on the DVD that was NOT on the 2003 release. Today, Disneyland announced that they will be reopening the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough that was located in Sleeping Beauty Castle until it was closed following September 11. As part of that announcement, they noted that the DVD release will feature a special feature talking about the original castle walkthrough that opened in 1957 with Disney Imagineers.
Considering how much I love Disneyland, this feature may well seal my decision to buy the new DVD. Hopefully, this is not the only new bonus material on the disc. It's certainly the kind of thing that I like to see because it's more oriented towards fans of the film instead of little kids.

And it may only be on the blu-ray edition. They're not saying a whole lot about what's going to be on it. I'm getting the blu-ray for sure since it will probably be back in the vault when I get a blu-ray player, so I'll be covered when that happens.

Well, that depends. They are also releasing the film on regular DVD, so it's just a matter of findng out what features will be unique to the blu-ray release.

For now, soon regular DVD's will be phased out. BRP that is a good point, we have a blu-ray player, I'll just get it on blu-ray and use my hubby's owny arguments against him! *is not devious at all*

Well, I have read about some of the features on the blu-ray and they are most certainly not found on the 2003 DVD. The blu-ray will be different from the 2003 release for sure.

More info about the release from MousePlanet's blurb about Disneyland re-opening the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough in the castle attraction that closed in 2001.
This is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to hear. They're not merely issuing a re-release of the 2003 DVD. I think I will definitely be picking this up when it's released.

I am so glad they are putting "adult" interests on this one, not just kiddy games. I will definately buy this, especially since it will finally be widescreen, widescreen tv's suck with fullscreen movies Thank you for finding this BRP!

For those who are interested about the free gifts that often come with buying the most recent Disney DVD release, here are two of the free gifts that I know of. I will post more as I find out about them.
1. Pre-order the DVD and/or blu-ray from the Disney Store and they will give you a set of 4 lithographs when you pre-order the film. Please note that you will need to pay for the movie when you pre-order it. You also receive a coupon good for a limited period of time at the Disney Store or DisneyShopping.com.
2. An exclusive offer available only at Best Buy.com(and not in Best Buy stores) is that when you order Sleeping Beauty on DVD or blu-ray and order/pre-order both the Tinkerbell movie and Ariel's Beginning, you can receive a free lithograph that is one of the 1959 release posters for the film.

I just got my copy today!!! I am so excited! My mom sent it to us as a surprise.
She got it at walmart and their exculsive package for buying it with them is the movie and a gift set that has a little pink mirror, 2 lip glosses, and nail polish. They also have similar gift sets for buying Ariel's Beginning and The Tinkerbell Movie.
