You don't need to be afraid to be different. I too had higher expectations for the film when I walked into the theater with my friend. As I stated in my big honking review hehe, I also found quote a few things wrong with it but none the less found it quite enjoyable and my friend and I were laughing pretty loud at a lot of the lines and mostly the Prince being a brainless ditz. I walked into the theater thinking the film would be more dramatic and serious. I thought they would get more into the Prince and Giselle in the animated world and really show some deep development between her and Robert in New York. They failed me on that a lot of it pulled me right back in it.
Despite what a lot f us seemed to think i guess it was just supposed to be an Epic Movie kind of structure where it just is meant to poke fun at a series of fairy tales yet have its own plot line. That's what Epic Movie was. Just poking fun(although a lot of it disgusting fun uhgg) at a series of selected movies Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chronicals of Narnia etc...

Well, I don't watch Disney movies with a critical eye. There are some things I agree with you on, like the weak character development and fluffy ending. Bug for me to enjoy a film doesn't count on the flawlessness or the brilliant effort that was put in to every detail, although it helps. I get that it wasn't as exquisite as something as, oh let's say The Lion King, but I didn't think it had to be. I enjoyed the movie for it's wonderful message about love in the modern day, a realistic romance, and a reasonable negotiation that ends with a happily ever after.
(I loved how the witch sends Giselle to a place "where happily ever afters don't exist". This was kind of the point of the movie, I felt, to prove this wrong).
modification: i guess i copied and pasted it and didn't see that, so i deleted that.

Yes very powerful element there, I completely agree. For her to have from a fairy tale world to a world where Happily Ever After does exist but does not always happen. I loved how she had to learn that and how Robert was able to teach that to her.
Personally I don't watch movies with a critical eye either. I don't go to the theater looking for flaws I go to enjoy the movie and what I happen to notice while I am doing so is not my control. I am not putting a of importance on the flaws I noticed, I don't care much about them. All I care about is my friend and I had a ball at the film laughing our heads off. Alex and I have never really bonded like that before and thats what I care about. Yes the film could have been slightly better but thats of little importance. And I am not the only one that should be thinking this way. No one should be putting so much importance on the flaws of a film unless the 100% did not enjoy it because of those flaws. But I enjoyed this film despite the flaws which makes the flaws irrelevant.

I have to disagree with those that say the music wasn't memorable. Maybe it wasn't to you, but I couldn't get the songs out of my head for a full week!

I for one agree with you, I now wish I could remember the song they were singing at the ball. It was a very beautiful song and paired with a certain moment that is a minor spoiler it created a very strong image.

You're thinking of "So Close". Yes, it is a beautiful song. It took a bit for that song to grow on me, but when it did, it absolutely did. I love how it says, "So far we are so close" and then changes at the end to say "So close and still so far."

I've been hearing news that The Golden Globes Press Association is giving reccomendations to it's confrance about Enchanted and Amy Adams being nominatied. This is so exciting because I really feel it deserves this recognition as does Amy. While I'm not confident it will have the nomination, I feel this urge it has a strong chance. Critics have been very positve towards the film and Amy has even been recieving Oscar buzz for her performance. When it come time for the official announcement I will definitley be watching and crossing my fingers.

I haven't been able to find time to see this film yet. I hope to before I head to Disneyland next week, but we'll have to see how things go. I'm glad to hear the positive reviews, so that's a good sign. My sister liked it, and she's not much for the fairy tales.

I went to see this movie on Friday night with a friend. Let me tell you this film blew away my expectations. I was sucked in right from the story book opening! It is by far one of my favourite Disney films. I'm going to be seeing this again soon. I really liked all the songs and I think that the princess is just so cute. I loved the twist at the end too! It was just a great movie. I'd recomend that everyone go and see it.

I just saw it tonight. I'll give a more detailed review later, but for now let's just say that this is the second time this year I've walked out of a Disney movie feeling like they remember how to make the kind of movies that people want to see.

Darnit, I keep trying to put it between code tags but it won't behave. Just use the full post mode and click the button the says 'spoil'. Sorry but since the code tags won't behave I have no other way of helping you.
