I just watched this again yesterday. I forgot how much I liked Luigi and Guido. And the punch buggy bugs are so cute. And the scene in the credits with all the John Ratzenburger characters is hilarious! There are a few things I caught this time that I didn't before. like Minnie and Van.. Van was like. "For the love of Crystler!" Little things like that that they threw in...

Another great gag was that everybody used Lightyear brand tires.

Cars is an excellent movie! My little grandson is only two years old, and he is medically challenged - meaning he was born at only 24 weeks old, and he's still currently on a feeding tube and has a trach, among other things - and every time he hears Mater's voice - he just laughs and laughs!

Up until yesterday I had never seen this film. And to be honest if hadn't included Paul Newman in the cast, I'm not sure I would have felt compelled to watch it. I was just flipping through the channels when I came across this movie in the middle of it's story. But it turns out "I'm so glad I managed to catch it!" This has now become my 2nd favorite pixtar film. (Right after Monsters Inc) It may change after I view Wall E, but that may not be for a while. Anyway though, this film pleasently surprised me.
The entire crew deserve a round of applause and a pat on the back. The story involving a world run by anthropomorphic cars is GENIUS! I'm not a car person but this was just too superb for me not to love them. And the animation was incredibly enthralling. The pure artistry of the dessert and mountains at some points seemed realistic. The waterfall is beyond words. The colors, designs of each vehicle, and personality is matched to near perfection. Now this what I believe Walt Disney himself would want in contemporary animation. I think he'd be proud.
Generally the voices were right on par that. Especially Paul Newman! (May he rest in peace) I'll also give a shout out to Bonnie Hunt for making me cry. (I confess I haven't done that in some time) The rest of the supporting cast were amazing too. Impecticular Larry the Cable Guy as Mater. I've never heard of him before this film but I think he'll be a brilliant comedian if he keeps taking the right material. What I loved so much about him is he played the character straight. He simply says what Mater would. That's why I find him funny. The only actor that I have to question in the casting is Owen Wilson. There was something about his performance that was off to me. I can't quite put my finger on it. I don't think he was terrible but I think John Lasseter could have chosen an actor who could have better portrayed McQueen's transformation from snobby hot-shot to a thankful and sympathetic team player.
But overall this story was exeedingly entertaning to watch. I think instead of another movie that I wanted for Christmas, I'll ask for this one. It just made me very happy. And the soundtrack had a great collection of songs.

Cars has to be one of my favourite Disney Pixar movies. I really liked all the characters and there were a lot all with their different personalities. I loved little Luigi and Ramone. Really liked the surprise of seeing him in a different paint colour in almost every scene. I loved the relationship between the Sarge and the hippie VW bus as well. The relationships between the characters is what I like the most. The storyline was really great and I was happy to see that McQueen changed his perspecitive on things at the end of the movie.

Am I the only one who was kind of neutral towards Cars? =/
It was okay, but it was lacking a warmth and depth that other Pixar movies have had. I can't really put my finger on it, but I just didn't think it was as good as other Pixar movies =/

I love this one because it keeps Elijah entertained very well. Not only does he watch the movie, he plays with the toys too. Lexi- it is a bit of play on the tire brand "goodyear" as well as a TOy Story reference L)

Lorelei: oh duh, I must have had a stupid moment in my last post. I caught both references, but must have momentarily forgotten the tire brand was Good Year, but I do know that. haha.

That did bother me some, but it was more of a Fridge Logic thing that I pondered after the movie.
I've been thinking about what I disliked about it, and I just didn't find the characters to be interesting. Most of them were boring or stereotypes.
I did like Doc, the Police Car, Luigi and Guido, but that was about it. =/

Lexi- hehe i thought you might Butters- I find it cute on a surface level, but i haven't really looked much deeper. I enjoy it right now mostly because Elijah likes it and it holds his attention long enough for me to do some housework

The first few times that I saw this movie I loved it. Although it might have been because I didn't have real high expectations. I didn't have low ones either but I was thinking it would be really great or anything. I'm not the biggest fan of Pixar to begin with, I'm not sure why, but with all of their films, as much as I love them, I feel like there's something off about them. I didn't get that feeling about this time until the third or fourth time I had seen it. I do think that Doc was a great idea. He's the stereotypical character and yet he still surprised me, like when he called the media and told them where Lightning was.
